In common geeks’ posts and articles regarding Page rank speaks about some common factors except on how it actually works! Page Rank is in fact, how you give importance to a particular Webpage by your own web pages of your website. Let us assume you want your ‘Home’ page to be ranked higher (often everyone seeks that, isn’t it?), you will have to lay the link of your home page in every other WebPages for example it should be in your,
i) Product page
ii) About us
iii) Contact us
So these pages in sum give certain ranks to Home page by just having its link. But if you have every other page’s link in all of the pages there is no value that is calculated. It is such a mechanism that “if you are not considered vital in your own space then how come the world would?” – Sort of! We in our Romeo’s blog are just making this complex idea into simple words, though you can refer this in detail in Page Rank’s Wikipedia page!
Note, by just having this in setup in your website you will not certainly be able to achieve this, because a Page which is just linked by number of pages is not under consideration, but a Page which is linked by number of high ranked pages determines the rank of the expected Page the most, means your other pages are also to be ranked somehow to increase your needed webpage’s Rank! That is, the Home page has to be linked by other pages which are with a considerable ranking already – as per the foresaid example!
Other Information about Google’s Page Rank:
- Google Page Ranks can increase your website’s web-traffic, but to end with, it is wholly on what you are having and how does people wants it!
- No matter what content you write, Page rank’s calculations are non-receptive to it! Similarly bad incoming links never comes under consideration!
- Do not expect Page Ranks to appear faster as Google’s Page Rank calculations are just held twice or thrice in a year!
- The Page rank that you see in Google toolbar is different from the actual Google’s Page ranks! Sometimes the Page rank values that you see in Google toolbar may be erroneous as Google hasn’t revealed its exact process of how it ranks websites yet (Toolbar’s ranking)!
